Deep rooted in Tradition
Prathamesh Samant’s father Pravin Samant came up with the idea and concept of Maachli farm stay and designed and built it with the help of local artisans. All the Samant family members are involved in the running of the property. Maachli is situated in Parule village in Sindhudurg, along the picturesque Konkan coast. It's an eco-farm located amidst thick plantations of Betel nut, Coconut (Naralachi Wadi), Mango, Banana, and spices with a gurgling stream flowing through its grounds, Maachli is built out of local materials and designed to leave the smallest ecological footprint possible. The cottages mimic traditional farmers' huts and the décor of the property is all locally sourced folksy artifacts. The kitchen is personally looked after by Pravin's mother, Priya who cooks up the most flavourful ethnic Malvani Saraswat cuisine featuring old forgotten recipes. The food is cooked on a woodfire and served in earthen pots. At Maachli you’ll enjoy a relaxed stay and a simpler way of living. Maachli is for those seeking a more authentic experience, from healthy traditional food to a peaceful atmosphere in nature.
Mobile network is not guaranteed. However, the guests can use host landline/wifi if required. Television is not available.
Maachli does not serve alcohol or have an MRP counter (for chips, beverages, etc). Guests can bring their own.
Since the cottages are located in a plantation, no eatables are allowed in the cottage.
Maachli is a term that describes the huts made by the farmers to look after the farm and rest. This homestay offers 6 minimalist eco cottages that are built on the principles of tropical modernism. Constructed using the vernacular architecture of the region, they have taken care not to cut a single tree during construction. The cottages feature innovative cross ventilation in their design eliminating the need for air conditioning.
The cottages are spread across the farm with serene expansive views of the surrounding plantation. Furnished aesthetically each with an ensuite bathroom. There is a small sit out area with deck chairs.

Sindhudurg airport is 3 km away, although a better alternative would be either the new airport in Goa at Mopa (68 km 1.5 hrs drive) or Dabolim airport (119 km 2.5 hrs drive).
Kudal Station is at a distance of 20 km from the farmstay.
For the driving enthusiasts Maachli is well connected by road, Mumbai is 11 hours away and a drive from Panjim, Goa will take you 2 hours.
Walk from the parking to the entrance is roughly 200 meters on an uneven surface. Guests have to cross a betel-nut trunks bridge over a beautiful water stream.
In Maachli, the cottages have an innovative feature of Cross Ventilation. The cottage has a stainless steel net set up on all 4 sides, which allows the air in the bottom to rise as the structure is very tall and the same is replaced by the fresh air from both sides. This process creates a pleasant channel of air within the cottage.
No tree is cut while selecting a place to build a Maachli cottage. Maachli also supports water conservation. It has set an example by experimenting with a small temporary dam on the stream which helps in the increase of water retention level of the soil. It has boosted the water level of the wells nearby.
Will be displayed soon.
