In a jungle overlooking the mountains
Kaleege, in the local language, means the wild pheasant, and there are plenty of them in the jungle that surrounds this home, along with other inhabitants of the wild. Takdah is a hamlet between Kalimpong and Darjeeling, situated at a height of 4500 feet above sea level. On a beautiful elevation sits the Kaleege house, which was built by Prabhdev and his wife Mridula. After leaving his job as a sports journalist in Delhi, Prabhdev came to Mridula’s homeland in Takdah to build the Kaleege house, originally intended as a vacation home in 2017. Little did both of them know that one day they would run it as a homestay, setting new standards of hospitality in the highlands of Sikkim and Darjeeling. Mridula is an avid cook and most of what you eat at the Kaleege house is all homegrown and lovingly made by her.
The main house has one guest room, while a separate cottage has two rooms and a central lounge. Breakfasts and dinners are served in the main home.
In a part of the main house, there is a cozy room with partial views of the surroundings.
