Picturesque home amidst fruit orchards in the Himalayas
Far from the madding crowd, surrounded by deodar trees, tucked away in a sleepy mountain hamlet called Thanedhar, is Grandma Stokes B&B.The owner Mr. Vinay Sirkceck has inherited the land from Mr. Satyanand Stokes (who is famous for bringing apples to these slopes) his great grandfather. Originally built as a family home, amidst apple and cherry orchards Vinay and his wife Veena decided to open their home to welcome guests 15 years ago.
The guests can admire spectacular views of the snow-capped mountains and of the River Sutlej below from some rooms and the widespread out viewing deck. Along with working in their orchard, the charming couple run this delightful homestay with their trusted trio, Chameli who is an outstanding cook, Sanju their helpful handyman, and Suman their all round charming help. You will be welcomed like family by all of them and also the furry residents of the homestay, Matru & Tiklu the cats and Taffy the dog. If you are looking for a true Himalayan valley home experience then Grandma Stokes is the destination.
Grandma Stokes offers rooms which are all part of the main house. In all there are 6 rooms out of which two rooms are on the lower floor and have direct access to the beautiful terrace. The Four rooms on the floor above where the family lives has one room with the view of the village road. The other three have views of the valley.
Opening directly onto the huge terrace with the views, these are double bedded comfortable rooms with a lot of personal memorabilia from the family. Individual dining area on this floor.

These have a separate staircase leading to a floor up from the lobby floor. One room has a view of the valley while the other has a view of the village road. Individual dining area on this floor, indoor activity space and a lounge room.

These rooms with an amazing view of the Sutlej and the Beas valleys have a common bathroom and are ideal for a family of 4. One room is also given with the exclusive access to the toilet after which Vinay does not allot the second room.

Price Description: The price is for double occupancy and includes all taxes and accommodation with the meals mentioned below.

Raahghar Payment Terms: Reservation is confirmed with an advance payment of 50% of the total amount at the time of booking. The balance payment is to be made 7 days prior to check-in.
Cancellation Policy (Indian Passport Holders Only):
In case of a cancellation due to any unforeseen circumstance a credit note will be issued by the property to the guest for the amount paid till date.
The credit note will be valid for use within one year from the period of booking. The guest can redeem the credit note against the amount of any future booking within a year and pay the balance if any as per the rates applicable on that date. This credit note is also transferable and can be used by the guest/transferee only once within the stipulated date.

Shimla in reality but getting a flight might prove a futile effort. You can fly into Chandigarh, the real closest airport.
The nearest railway station is Shimla. It is connected by a heritage train from Kalka which takes approximately 6 hours to reach Shimla.
Thanedar is, 200km, 6-hour drive from Chandigarh (via Shimla)
The food served on the property is very homely and always accompanied by wholesome portions of fruits.
