A Heritage Plantation Stay
The state highway gently passes through the coffee plantations. A small board on the side of the road with the letters ‘Bidanna Estate’ with ‘two elephants’ next to it welcomes you to Uncle Viju’s and Aunt Nimmie's Elephant Corridor Coorg. The property dates to 1867 when Viju’s ancestors stayed here for a little over two generations after which the house remained empty for over 70 years. When Viju started the renovations Nimmie, his wife from Sri Lanka, was by his side to work on the landscape and other aspects of the house, like choosing an open community kitchen over a traditional one. Such touches along with the conversations with Uncle Viju and Aunt Nimmi over a freshly brewed estate coffee leave you with a warm feeling. The heady mix of South Indian and Sri Lankan food along with Aunt Nimmie's twist of salads is something to experience with your taste buds. Dinner conversations often extend to midnight with the sounds of the forest giving you company as you quietly retire to your comfortable bed.
There is a unit of two rooms right next to each other and close to where the open kitchen is. Wake up to the scent of freshly brewed coffee which you can sip either sitting outside your room or right where the action is - in the kitchen.
This room is airy and comfortable. Being close to the kitchen and the main house makes the access very easy.
